DCDC TEAM WINS BIG (AGAIN) AT NATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION!
DreamCatcher's Dance Company wins big at the Stage One Dance National
Finals in Branson, MO. DreamCatcher's is locally owned by Aonisty
Kashwer of Chandler, with studio locations in Chandler and Shawnee.
Masquerade Madness - National Teen Grand Champions!
The 30 masked dancers in Masquerade Madness (pictured) earned a
platinum score and first overall in the level 2 line division on
Saturday, June 12th, making them national champions. They then
advanced to the "Best of the Best Shootout" and competed against
groups of all levels and sizes on Sunday, June 13th where they were
named National Grand Champions (82 total routines included this age
division)! These dancers range in age from 6-18 and call several local
communities "home," including Chandler, Meeker, Sparks, Prague, Maud,
Shawnee, Tecumseh, and Seminole.
Dancers in this winning routine: Alex Berry, Hailey Bishop, Jorden Carlson, Carly Chisholm, Kyla Colvin, Nadea Cowan, Michaela Flatt, Eryn Fowler, Megan Gilbreth, Faith Hanna, Gracie Hanna, Naomi Hestilow, Samantha Huff, Andrea Kuzilik, Jamie Leader, Laina Martin, Jaxi Martin, Jalen Milligan, Cheyenne Needham, Catrina Needham, Victoria Nutt, Jordan Pearse, Allie Peterson, Siobhan Ragland, Darian Rhodd, Micah Ripley, Haley Smith, Gabby Carpenter, Kennedi Watkins, Brooke Watkins
Also coming home with national championship titles: teen trio "Total
Eclipse of the Heart" (Brooke Watkins, Catrina Needham, and Micah
Ripley all of Prague); and senior soloist Dakota Thompson of Stroud.
Walk This Way - 1st Runner Up for Petite Grand Champions
DreamCatcher's had 3 other routines earn a spot on the national
shootout stage: "Baby I'm A Star," a jazz small group from the 6 &
under age division (Sierra Ramey, Cobie Rickner, Katherine Miller, and
Laryssa Nunn); Corporate Hip Hop a small group from the junior age
division (Jalen Milligan, Michaela Flatt, Jamie Leader, Laina Martin,
Siobhan Ragland, Allie Peterson, Jordan Pearse, and Shelton Needham);
and Walk This Way, a clogging small group from the 8 & under age
division (Hailey Bishop, Megan Gilbreth, Eryn Fowler, Cheyenne
Needham, and Victoria Nutt). Walk This Way earned first runner-up for
petite grand champions!
50+ fans of DCDC wore their own painted "masks" in a show of support as the team took the shootout stage!
One of the most memorable moments of this nationals was when 50+ parents, grandparents, aunts, brothers, cousins, and friends surprised the Masquerade Madness dancers by painting their own faces in a show of support before the team took the stage for the shootout!

1st overall for level 1 "Slow"
Senior Large Groups:
4th overall For "When Art Comes to Life"
7th overall For "Angels" and a choreography award
1st overall for "Slow" a level one small group in this age division.
DreamCatcher's soloists were also tremendously successful at this
national finals competition!
In 4 & under solos, Hope Hanna, of Shawnee, won 3rd overall.
In 8 & under solos, Cheyenne Needham, Prague, won third overall
and Faith Hanna, Shawnee, won 7th overall for level one in this age division.
In the teen elite level solo competition, Brooke Watkins, of Prague,
won third overall; and Catrina Needham, also of Prague, won 7th
overall and was the teen scholarship award winner! Needham's
contemporary solo, "I am What I Am" was also awarded the division
choreography award.
These are just the highlights! Many of groups and solo earned Platinum and High Gold scores and some were the high points for their categories. We are really incredibly proud of all of our dancers, this is our best nationals showing in 12 years of competitive dance.
